Summary : A hoard of Roman silver denarii (dated 130 AD from a coin of Hadrian) was found in the filling of Beech Bottom Dyke (Lin 9) at St Albans in 1932 during sewage operations. It contained 100 coins, or 2 'shovelfuls' (according to another account). Although the hoard was immediately dispersed by the labourers, 41 coins were recovered for inspection.
