Blackchester. An earthwork roughly circular in plan with multiple ramparts enclosing approx. 1/2 acre. (2)
This fort is correctly delineated, though it has been considerably damaged by old coal-workings. The site falls steeply to the north where there is only one rampart, whilst the entrance, appears to have been in the S.W. quadrant. (3)
Listed as a probable pre-Roman multivallate earthwork. (4)
Field inspection not possible, due to almost impenetrable afforestation. (5)
