Summary : Also known as the Bury and Thetford (Swaffham Branch). The Watton and Swaffham Railway was incorporated in 1866 as an independent venture by the Thetford and Watton Railway Company, which would construct the line from Roudham Junction to Watton. Freight services began in January 1869 and passenger services in October 1869. In the same year, authorisation was gained to extend the line to the Lynn and Dereham Railway at Swaffham, the extension being completed in 1875. The line closed to passengers in 1964 and to freight in 1965.

Railway line from Roundham junction to Watton opened on 26 January
1869 and from Watton to Swaffham on 20 September 1875. The line
was closed on 19 April 1965. (2)
