The Rey

Hob Uid: 356485
Location :
Norfolk
King's Lynn and West Norfolk
Roydon
Grid Ref : TF6964023090
Summary : The Rey Moat. The moated site was retangular and contained the site of a manor house. Air photographs showed two arms of the moat remaining open and a third visible as a cropmark. The whole site has since been levelled.
More information : THE RYE [GT] (site of) (MOAT [GT] (1)

This moat is the extent already shown by packed lines. It was, at
the time of my visit, completely filled with water all round. In the
centre is a small mound. (2)

[TF 69642309] THE REY [GT] (site of) (3)

This feature has been filled, levelled, and ploughed over. A scatter
of brick debris marks the site of the house.
A long marshy area published on the 25" to the immediate east was
probably an associated fishpond but this has also gone. (4)

By 1979 the whole of the site had been levelled. Scheduling is therefore not recommended. (5)
