More information : [TF51567442] St Peter's Church [TU]. (1) St Peter's Church, Mumby, is mainly a good Early English example. The chancel was rebuilt in 1874. The base and shaft, 44 1/2in. high, of the churchyard cross remain. (2-3) The church, in normal use, is correctly dedicated to St Thomas of Canterbury. A churchwarden indicated that it was changed to St Peter's at the whim of a 'high church vicar' but has now reverted to it's original name. The remains of the cross are at TF 51567440; see GP AO/64/187/1. (4)
Unusual carved corbel head with nose-band in arcade. (5) |
