TF 4843 8065. Hagnaby Abbey: a Premonstratensian abbey and a post-medieval house and formal garden. Scheduled no. LI/190. (4)
The grassed over foundations of Hagnaby Abbey as described by authority 3 were seen and mapped from good quality air photographs. Many features were identified within the confines of the precinct boundary. It was not possible to identify which features relate to the Post Medieval house and formal garden from air photographs. The remains of three possible buildings were recorded at TF 4840 8063, TF4832 8069 and TF 4835 8060, 10-15m long by 6m wide.
Within the precinct boundary is a vast network of ponds and connecting drains which were clearly visible on air photographs. There is a small circular enclosure, 10m in diameter, at TF 48338072, which could possibly be the site of a dovecote. Just to the south west of the main precinct are two more possible fish ponds and a drain at TF 4827 8047. (Morph No. LI.384.8.1 - 8.7)
