More information : A lost hamlet in or near Scremby parish may be either Greinby or Grebby, both are mentioned in 1086. Grebby is a hamlet in the parish of Scremby. There were five families at the time of Elizabeth I. (1-2)
There is no evidence of desertion in the area of the present hamlet of Grebby. (3)
[TF 438 683] Strip lynchet earthworks, all that remain of ploughed out Deserted Medieval Village of Grebby, are visible on AP by P Everson and T Hayes, NLAU in 1980. (4-5)
[TF 4386 6845] Brick tower windmill, 1812, is now part of a house. (6)
The lynchets recorded by Authorities 4-5, were seen as earthworks and mapped from poor quality air photographs. They are a system of parallel field boundaries of probable Medieval or Post Medieval date; they have a maximum length of 150m and run across the contours.
