Summary : Benedictine alien cell of St Sever founded by Hugh, Earl of Chester, before 1080 and dissolved in 1397 when it was granted to the Carthusian Priory, Coventry. There are no extant remains.
More information : A small cell for Benedictine monks, dependent on St. Sever, was founded at Haugham before 1080. It was probably only intended to support one or two monks. Dissolved in 1397. (1)

No further information could be obtained locally. (2)

An examination of all available air photographs revealed no evidence of the Benedictine cell referred to by the previous authorities.
