Summary : Parish church. Circa 1360, possibly for John of Gaunt. Partly destroyed in the Civil War, restored 1866 by James Fowler of Louth, and again in 1889. Squared greenstone rubble, limestone ashlar, Westmorland slate roofs. Nave, north aisle, north western tower. The present nave was the south aisle of the 14th century church.
More information : [TF 3494 6513] Ch. [T.U.] (1) Ss Peter and Paul's has a Decorated nave which was originally the south aisle of a larger church and was probably built by John Gaunt c.1365-70. The NW tower is Perpendicular and the north aisle added 1890. (2) In normal use. (3)
