Summary : Parish church. 14th and 15th century, restored by James Fowler 1875 and tower rebuilt 1894 by C. Hodgson Fowler. Squared greenstone rubble, limestone ashlar dressings, Welsh and Westmorland slate roofs, decorative tiled ridges. Nave, western tower, south aisle and porch, chancel. Part of a coped or round-topped grave slab of 11th century Saxon date is set at the threshold of the tower west door, and may have been reset there in 1894. Remains of 14th century churchyard cross. |
