All Saints Church

Summary : Parish church. Circa 1340-1380, circa 1400, early 15th and early 18th centuries, restored 1867. Limestone ashlar, some limestone rubble. Lead roofs with stone coped east gable with cross finial. West tower with spire, nave with north and south aisles and north and south porches, chancel.

Late decorated, much restored when foundations of the church
mentioned in 1177 were discovered beneath the three west piers
of the north arcade.
The round towers of the north porch either came from a castle, or
are in imitation of castle architecture. (2-5)

In normal use. The drum towers of the north porch appear to be
a late addition to the porch proper. No local information was
gained regarding their origin. G.P.s AO/65/116/5-6. (6)

13A/1 A Church of All Saints

Late 14C square tower with spire. The Nave with arcades are
c.1300. and the clerestorey C.1380. Chancel c. 1355 N. Porch 14c
with round angle turrets leading to parvise, 1526. Tomb of
Sir Humphrey Littlebury of Penny Hill Hall died c.1400. 14 brass
to Jonanna Wilby. G.R.II arms. All built of ashlar with lead
roofs. Late 14C font. (7)
