Summary : An important grange, known as Kirksteadheythe, Anchaith, or Ancheythe, Grange, was given to Kirkstead Abbey in the 12th century. Metheringham Lodge now occupies the site. but there are no Mediaeval remains visible.

An important grange, known as Kirksteadheythe, Anchaith, or Ancheythe, Grange, given to Kirkstead Abbey in the 12th century. Metheringham Lodge now occupies the site, and some 15th century work is still to be seen in the farm buildings. (2-4)

There are no traces of 15th c. work in the farm buildings. (5)
