More information : Little Lavington or Lenton, a lost hamlet lying between Lavington now Lenton [TF 026303] and Hanby [TF 026317], is mentioned in the Domesday Survey (Parva Lavintune). An award of tithe rentcharge, dated 17th May, 1846, shows that the territory of Little Lavington lay to the east of the Lavington- Sapperton road and, with the exception of one close, on the south side of the Lavington-Folkingham road, that it came to within 1/4 mile of Lavington church on the south, and to within less than 1/2 mile of Hanby Grange on the north. Described in the award as "the hamlet of Lavington otherwise called Lenton".
