Summary : Medieval settlement mentioned in Domesday Book. No evidence of the village remains.
More information : The lost village of Avethorpe, which was in the west part of the parish of Aslackby, near the site of the Aveland [TF 02 NE 1] is mentioned from the time of the Domesday Survey onwards. No trace remains. (1) Perambulation in the proximity of the "Aveland" (TF 068296) revealed no surface evidence of desertion. No further information. A.Ps not available. (2) Listed by Beresford. (3) An examination of all available air photgraphs revealed no evidence of the Medieval settlement referred to by the previous authority. (4)
