More information : Romano-British pottery kilns were discovered in the course of extensions to Bourne Grammar School, TF 098195, in 1959, Grid reference is given as TF 098197 (1) (2). Much pottery including large red calcite-gritted storage jars was found. A stamped mortarium rim is possibly A.D.65-90 (a). One kiln was excavated, and its products included 3rd and 4th century calcite-gritted jars, dishes and candlesticks. A small AE of Constantine I and an imitation 3rd century radiate were also found. The stamp and other sherds are in Lincolm Museum (24.61;24.66), the remaining pottery is in the School Museum. Headmaster, Mr R P Foster.
