More information : [TF 0254 0525] WOTHORPE HOUSE [G.T.] (Remains of) [TI] (1) Wothorpe House was built early in the 17th century by Thomas Earl of Exeter. The building was partly demolished c. 1791, but the ruins of the central block with four angle towers remains. (2) Wothorpe House is scheduled. (3) G.P. AO/61/148/4 Wothorpe House ruins from W. AO/61/148/5 Wothorpe House ruins from N. (4) No change. (5) Wothorpe Towers. Ruins of a house built c1600 for thomas Cecil, Earl of Exeter, Lord Burghley's eldest son. Built of ashlar faced rubble.
