Summary : The monastery or minster is documented in as extant in the reign of Edward the Confessor, and in Domesday, when there may have been a community of priests there.
More information : (SP 9244) Bucks (ie North Crawley). Doubtful Monastery founded before 1066 and dissolved after 1086. (1) A small Monastery dedicated to St Firmin is said to have been founded at Crawley in the time of Edward the Confessor but fell into decay long before the general dissolution of the monasteries. (The present 12th-15thc church is dedicated to St Firmin) (2) No local information. (3) The owner of Lodge Farm at SP 936443 stated that local tradition sited the monastery to the farm but no evidence could be found to support this tradition. (4)
