More information : Wolverton SP 826404. Site of Roman building, tile, tesserae, and sherds in scatter of building stone. (1) A probable winged corridor villa featuring geometric mosaics, was excavated in 1973. The uppermost levels only were examined and these proved to be of fourth century date. (2) The small area of villa so far excavated is centred at SP 82714036. It is proposed that the excavations will continue for at least five years (a). See attached excavation plan. Surveyed at 1:2500. (3) Further exploration has located three rooms, all with mosaic pavements, in a building perhaps 100m in length. (4)
