More information : Mound, apparently artificial, 300 yds S of Salden House Farm, possibly associated with gravel digging. (No mound can be seen at this position on APs, but a mound is shown at SP 82322891 on original 1" (1820-30), and described as Mount Pleasant). (1-2) Mound c50 ft in diameter and 5 to 6 ft high in a field called Mount Pleasant. Excavations exposed foundations of a stone mill, and in the surrounding ditch were millstone, building rubble and 14c sherds. Some of the stones were reddened, suggesting destruction by fire. Considered to be a 13th c Mill Mound. (3) (SP 82312899) A sub-circular mound, spread by the plough, in a prominent exposed position. It measures c 22.0m SW-NE by c21.0m transversely and is c1.5m high. There is a dark soil mark of a former ditch on the E side. No significant finds made on field investigation. Surveyed at 1:2500.
