More information : An "encampment and tumulus" about a mile and half from the "supposed encampment" at [Knaptoft - SP 68 NW 3] and "in the parish of Husband's Bosworth". [Therefore somewhere in the area SP 638848). (1) "Encampment and tumulus near Husbands Bosworth" [refers to 1]. "Explanation" [See AO:59:399:3] B. Three sides of a parallelogram of which the two long sides measure each 65 yards 3 inches; the shorter side measures 36 yards. The three sides are formed by large mounds of earth; no foss appears; the earth must have been carried from a distance. C. Another bank or mound, 17 yards in length, without any foss; part in, and part without, the parallelogram. D. A mount about three feet high, the base 25 yards; at the distance from the parallelogram between 60 and 70 yards north. F. Aanother bank or mound, 11 yards, 2 feet, 9 inches, in length; at the distance of one yard from the mound. The distance from Leicester, SSE, is 14 miles; from Naseby, 6 miles." (2) "Miscellaneous Earthworks... Husbands Bosworth (xlix, 16) - A work ... formerly in this parish ... Destoryed far too definitely to place them in Class G." [Moated inclosures with stronger defensive works]. (3) The location of these earthworks was not established in field investigation. Possibly destroyed by railway or Grand Union Canal. (4) Reference to a mound in the vicinity having been destroyed when the railway was built 'and its contents dispersed'. (5)
