Summary : A possible motte is situated south east of the church surrounded by a ditch except on the north west side. The site is traditionally that of a castle.
More information : An important house of the lord of the honour of Giffard must have existed at Long Crendon. Tradition calls it a castle and places it in the neighbourhood of Cop Hill (SP7009). It probably ceased to be the chief residence in the 12th century. (1)

South east of the church there is a high mound surrounded, except on the NW side, by a ditch. (Area SP 699089, and sufficiently close to Cop Hill to be connected with the traditional castle.Not apparent on available APs. RAF 1950). (2)
