OXFORD BOTANIC GARDENS

Walled university physic garden founded in 1621 by Henry Danvers. The first garden Superintendent, Jacob Bobart, was appointed in 1648. The gardens were renamed the Botanic Garden by Professor Daubeny in 1840. Alterations to the garden layout were made by Daubeny in 1850 and Isaac Balfour in 1884-88.
