The site of the Battle of Edgehill fought in October 1642 between the Royalists, led by the King and the Parliamentarians, led by the Earl of Essex. It was the opening battle of the Civil War. Graveground Coppice marks the approximate site of one of the two main grave-pits. The site is a Registered Battlefield.
