(4) The waterfilled sub-rectangular homestead moat at Whitacre Hall is in good condition and measures, overall, 90.0m east-west by 75.0m transversely. The arms average 8.0 m in width. The moat is fed from a spring to the north east. The gatehouse, the shell-towers, 5.0 m square and 3.0 m in height internally, and the inter-connecting revetment walls are non-defensive ornamental features in Elizabethan brick.
