A Roman villa at The Grove was discovered in 1955. It was excavated between 1958 and 1960 and remains encountered included several rooms including a bath suite. The steps of the plunge bath were faced with imported white marble. Other finds include tessellated floors, a drain, wall plaster, pottery and a coin.
