Early 17th century formal gardens belonging to Campden House. The gardens cover an area measuring 400m east-west by 250m north-south and form a plan that is both axial and to a large extent symmetrical, or at least balanced. It consisted of a number of terraces and water features. The garden was laid out circa 1609-29 and contains a variety of elements from diffent gardening styles, including both French and Italianate traditions. The physical survival of the layout of the garden is exceptional.
