Summary : Hough Priory, dependent on the Augustinian Abbey of Notre-Dame-du-Voeu-Cherburg, was founded about 1164 and dissolved in about 1414. It was a cell for a prior and a chaplain, but the latter was withdrawn in the early 14th century. After the suppression it was granted to Mountgrace. There are no extant remains, although earthworks associated with Mediaeval earthworks (SK94NW53) may be associated with the site of the monastery. |

The published site falls in a pasture field containing amorphus earthworks - mainly drainage and quarrying. No remains of the cell were identified. (4)

The area is under permanent pasture and has been extensively disturbed by surface quarrying. There are no features to identify the exact site of the priory cell. (6)
Medieval earthworks, in the vicinity referred to by the previous authority, probably relate to Medieval settlement (SK 94 NW 53) but could contain remnants of priory earthworks. (7) |
