HOUGH PRIORY

DESCRIPTION + /

Hough Priory, dependent on the Augustinian Abbey of Notre-Dame-du-Voeu-Cherburg, was founded about 1164 and dissolved in about 1414. It was a cell for a prior and a chaplain, but the latter was withdrawn in the early 14th century. After the suppression it was granted to Mountgrace. There are no extant remains, although earthworks associated with Mediaeval earthworks (SK94NW53) may be associated with the site of the monastery.
