BELTON HOUSE

Country house constructed to designs by William Winde between 1685-1688 replacing an earlier Manor House. Alterations were carried out in 1777 to designs by James Wyatt and internal alterations were carried out circa 1816 by Jeffry Wyatville. Further alterations were carried out between 1870-1900. The house is of two storeys and H-shaped on plan and built of limestone ashlar with hipped Westmorland slate roofs.
