Summary : Franciscan priory founded by 1290, when Pope Nicholas IV granted indulgences to penitents visiting the church, and dissolved in 1539. It was situated on the west side of the Market Place and the site later became known as the Grange or Cistercians Place. In 1857 the site of the friary and its associated buildings and gardens was occupied by the Grange Gardens which covered ten acres. |

The Franciscan Priory at Grantham was founded before AD 1290 and dissolved in 1539. It was situated on the west side of the Market Place and the site later became known as the Grange or Cistercians Place. There are no identifiable remains of the priory. The published site is now a heavy machinery park. (5)
