MONUMENT NO. 325448

A Roman bath-house was discovered in 1828 on the south bank of the River Witham, about half a mile south of another bath-house discovered 4 years previously (SK 92 NW 3). Partial excavation revealed the walls and hypocaust remains, as well as quantities of tile, brick, tesserae, pottery and animal remains. The site has been included in Scott's gazetteer of Roman villas.
