SOUTHORPE

DESCRIPTION + /

Deserted Medieval settlement, surviving as cropmarks and earthworks. These include a moat with the manor house, a hollow way, building platforms, fishponds and a ridge and furrow field system. Population declined during the 15th century. The church was demolished in the early 16th century. The last buildings to occupy the site were on the moat and were demolished in 1966. Scheduled.
