Cold Overton Hall

Summary : Built in 1664 by John St John and added to in 1809 and 1828. It was redecorated by Lanchester and Rickards, and by A Blunt in 1914. Most of the additions were demolished in 1950. Built of ironstone and limestone, and roofed with Swithland slate. 3-Storeys with 5 bays.

Cold Overton Hall dates from the C17th. In 1661 it was a sizeable house, as eighteen hearths were shown in the hearth tax of that year. Rebuilding was carried out in the C17th and C20th. (2)

A very fine hall for the period. (3)
