There was a Norman castle at Blyth that is believed to have
stood near the Abbey, or else the Abbey was built on the
castle's site. (quotes Blyth Abbey M/S as evidence). (2)
Local research and enquiry revealed no additional information
concerning this site that had apparently vanished by the
E. 16th century. (3)
