More information : [SK 5149 9889] Tower: A solid semi-circular tower projecting from the outer face of the curtain wall, the tower base is strongly splayed. Originally the tower rose above the wall walk, whence steps led to its summit. (1) The remains of this mediaeval tower are in a good state of repair. The tower is semi-circular 4.0 m. at the top and 5.0 m. at the base where the masonry has sloped away from the vertical. It is of similar construction to the castle wall, i.e. faced stones with rubble core. Stands to the same height of castle wall. No access to the top at present. (2) Correctly described by preceding authorities. GP 53/19/3 (3) Condition unchanged. (4)
