Summary : Dismantled Railway, 1879-1966. The Nottingham and Melton Mowbray Branch of the Midland Counties Railway was built to provide an alternative route to Nottingham, using the Glendon and Manton Railway and the Manton and Melton Mowbray section of the Syston and Peterborough Railway. The new line was built from Melton Mowbray to the Midland station in Nottingham. The Leeds and Bradford trains tended to use this route rather than the main Midland route. |
