More information : (SK 20955728) Minning Low (OE) (1) Minninglow, Ballidon, the largest chambered tomb in Derbyshire, is the eastern of two round barrows on the top of Minninglow Hill.
(SK 209572) The barrow now has the appearance of an old quarry dump; robbing has been extensive in the western half, but the eastern portion is still 8ft high. (See plan AO/LP/62/38.) Possibly Middle/Late Neolithic. Excavated by Bateman (a)(b) during 1843-51 who found Roman coins and pottery of apparently 3rd-4th century. (2) The remains of at least five cists are visible, the whole mound having been extensively disturbed. Resurveyed at 1:2500. (3) Additional reference. (4)
