It was altered in 1692 and again in the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries. Unusual plan form, comprising three independent ranges linked by lengths of curtain wall. Built as a semi-fortified house, with a detached three storey tower to the north of the main block.

[LB]. (1)

Built by Sir Thomas Cokayne in 1509, the house was probably much larger than the existing remains which consist of a rectangular structure with a west wing. The latter is probably part of the original great hall of which the present main block is the solar wing.

The walls are red brick with stone dressings, and the west end being rebuilt in 1692.

North of the wing is a detached 3-storied embattled tower of brick and stone.

South of the house was the chapel, built by the Edensors of Pooley Manor c.1261. (2-4)
