Summary : Site of a lead mine in operation in the 19th century. Only the pumping engine house now survives on the site. The post medieval site can be seen as earthworks on air photographs. The area is not visible on the latest EARTH.GOOGLE.COM photography (accessed 15-OCT-2009) due to tree coverage.

The Pindale Engine House stood adjacent to the chimney of the mine.

SK 163826. Pindale or Ashton's Mine pumping engine house and square
chimney (see plan - Authy 3). still survive at Pindale Farm. An
agreement, dated 1743, to drive a drainage sough may indicate that
the sough was in operation during the following decade. In 1800-2
the mine was producing more lead than Odin Mine (see SK 18 SW 6). (3-4)

The site of a post medieval lead mine can be seen as earthworks on air photographs, centred at SK 1630 8257 and covering an area of approximately 0.3ha. The feature is not visible on the latest latest EARTH.GOOGLE.COM photography (accessed 15-OCT-2009) due to tree coverage.
