More information : A sandstone axe was found near Hope before
1877, and is now in Bolton Museum. Its length is 3 1/2 ins., its
width across the cutting edge is 2 ins. and across the butt 1/2 in.
(Hope: SK 1783). (1)

The museum record no exact provenance of this axe, which is of
ironstone. (2)
