Toot Hill [NAT] Tumulus (LB) (1) Toothill Barrow, diameter 85ft and height 6ft (2), was opened by Redfern in 1860, who found a cremation burial four feet from the surface and twelve feet from the east end. Four feet below this were calcined bones, pottery and a few flint flakes. The pottery was identified by Jewitt as part of an over-hanging rim urn, also a sherd of Castor ware. (2) A steep-sided,flat-topped bowl barrow of the dimensions given above, with no visible ditch. The mound is grass-covered with trees growing. Published 1:2500 survey correct. (3)
