More information : (SK 12000974) A town gate is shown here on a plan showing Lichfield as it was circa 1350 AD. (1) No trace of this gate remains. A plaque, at SK 11990974, reads, "The site of the Stowe Gate or bar of the city erected by Bishop Roger de Clinton (1129-1148) who also surrounded the city by a moat.
