Summary : The site of an earthen fort or camp of 1098 situated on the most prominent part of Congary Brooghs overlooking the river to the south where the Peel Golf Links now are.
More information : An earthen fort or camp, 30 yards in diameter, which Cowley stated was still in existence in 1927, was situated on the most prominent part of Congary Brooghs, overlooking the river to the south, where the Peel Golf Links now are. (Golf Course shown on OS 6" 1957, centred SC 249 832). The earthwork was evidently built at the time of the Battle of Santwat in 1098. (See SC 28 SW 45). (1 - 2)
