More information : At Salakee Down south of Ward Hill at SV 92181016 are the remains of a possible entrance grave. Overall it measures approximately 12 metres x 10 metres with a maximum height on the south of 0.8 metres but levelling into the natural slope on the north. What remains has been much disturbed and mutilated, probably from stone working, the large stones in the interior being drill-marked and the surrounding area on the south having much small stones and chippings. The interior discloses infilling of tightly packed rubble. The chamber as far as can be ascertained may have been approximately 3 metres x 1.3 metres x 0.7 metres deep.
While much doubt must remain as to the exact nature of these remains there is a distinct possibility that this was an entrance grave similar to others in this area.
