More information : SV 90931093 (1) A standing stone on Mount Flagon, originally described by Borlase as 10ft high by 2ft 9ins wide, placed on a mound. It has been recently secured in position, and there are traces of a small cairn around it. Ashbee suggests it being originally split from a larger block. Russell confirms its existence but queries it being in situ.(2-3) A standing stone, secured in position by insertion in a small pedestal of cemented rocks, stands on Mount Flagon at SV 90951093, some 30.0m north of 'Harry's Walls'. It is 2.3m in height, and 0.8m x 0.4m in width. There is a drill-hole in both the north and south faces. there is no evidence to indicate whether or not it is in situ, but it is probably on or near the spot where Borlase saw it. No trace of a surrounding cairn could be seen. Surveyed in position at 1:2500 on PFD. (See plan with SV 91 SW). (4) |
