More information : (SV 92861149) Tumulus (NR). An unopened round barrow (Hencken's 15a), marked "Tumulus" in the OS map, and situated on the footpath from Mount Todden House to Mount Todden Battery. It may well contain a chamber. A robbed cairn of which a few surrounding stones still remain. It is almost 30 feet in diameter, incorporating an elongated rock outcrop, and three stones suggest a chamber orientated north east/south west. A scrub-covered mound is visible at the above reference. On the crest of a hill at approximately 38.0m OD is an earth and stone semi-circular cairn 12.0m a cross and 0.7m high, with no visible ditch. The scrub and bracken covered mound comprises several boulders; the largest being 9.0m x 0.4m. The tops of two parallel stones suggest a possible cist or chamber. Overall the barrow is in good firm condition. Surveyed at 1:2500 on PFD.
