More information : A stone circle comprising ten stones protruding a few
inches above the surface, 15ft in diameter and slightly concave,
was discovered on Kirk Moor, NZ 924030, in 1965. A two feet trench
dug across the circle revealed a fragmented urn, remains of a
cremation and a flint fragment, on a large stone at the centre
which bore traces of burning on top and underneath. Evidence
suggests that a mound had covered the area until recent times.
The urn, too fragmentary to restore, may have been biconical in
form and, if so, the circle would belong to the EBA. (1)
