Egton Hall. "Applies to the site of an ancient Hall situate in the
village of Egton. The site was pointed out by Mr Joseph Readman of Egton, who remembers the Hall before it was burnt down about seventy years ago. This is mentioned as the Old Hall or Castle of Egton in Young's History of Whitby and is thought to have existed in the 13th century". (2)
