Historic England Research Records

Monument Number 27673

Hob Uid: 27673
Location :
North Yorkshire
Hambleton
Kildale
Grid Ref : NZ5948010250
Summary : The site of a cairn with associated stone alignments, possibly dating to the Bronze Age and mentioned in a number of sources. During fieldwork undertaken in 1962 these monuments could no longer be located and it is possible that they have been destroyed, by a combination of ploughing and regrowth of woodland.
More information : (NZ 59841025) 20ft diameter cairn, 2-3ft high, with parallel lines ofstones leading to it. Damaged by ploughing. (1)

This feature could not be located. It is probable that the present
re-afforestation of the area, with its attendant deep ploughing and
stone clearance, has resulted in its destruction. (2)
