This mound appears to be one of the few genuine pond barrow/enclosed
cremation cemeteries in Cleveland. It is situated on almost level
moorland at 200m O.D. The bank is of small stone and earth
construction and measures 10m in external diameter. The bank is 3m
wide and 0.2m high with the centre sunk 0.8m below the top of the
bank. It appears to be intact.

The western half of the monument has recently been obscured by the
overdumping of spoil from a recut track, which runs close by. This
is a scheduled ancient monument.
(Not included in Cleveland scheduled list). (3)
