More information : (NZ 56200182, NZ 55240180, NZ 55220176) Three Howes (Tumuli) (OE) (1) The published survey (OS 25" 1913) of these three bowl barrows is correct. They have an average diameter of 12.0m and a height of 1.0m, and are of earth and stone construction. All are now partially covered by heather, and have been mutilated by excavation of the centres. There is no evidence of ditches, but in two cases the remains of a kerb is apparent, composed of large stones inset around the base of the mound.(2) NZ 552 017. Three Howes round cairns.
