Three Howes

Summary : Three round barrows situated on the top of Cold Moor. The barrows each have an earth and stone mound which is round in shape. The mounds were surrounded by a quarry ditch which have become infilled over the years and are no longer visible.

The published survey (OS 25" 1913) of these three bowl barrows is
correct.
They have an average diameter of 12.0m and a height of 1.0m, and are
of earth and stone construction. All are now partially covered by
heather, and have been mutilated by excavation of the centres. There
is no evidence of ditches, but in two cases the remains of a kerb is
apparent, composed of large stones inset around the base of the mound.(2)
